Many are longing for inner-peace and wanting to feel better about their self-image; however, in some cases they are not finding answers to these much needed personal concerns.
There are; however, ways to find peace and feel good about who you are by first accepting what you can’t change and then change what you can change. Keep in mind that there are certain things in life we cannot change; such as what others think about us, world matters and everyday activities. Once you accept what you cannot change, a huge amount of stress and anxiety will be lifted from your shoulders and you will find peace.
Another way to find inner peace and a better image of who you are is to meditate. By meditating for 10-20 minutes each day, you can calm your mind and body and enjoy the relaxation and peace it brings to your body and mind. To meditate, all you have to do is find a quiet place, sit back, close your eyes and focus on peaceful thoughts. This will get rid of all anxious and nervous thoughts. You will find, if you practice this, you will not only feel more peaceful but you will also feel relaxed and free of everyday concerns.
Many of us spend most of our days at work or at home; inside buildings and often forgetting how enjoyable it is to spend time outside. By taking a walk in a nearby park or walking in your neighborhood; you can rediscover how relaxing and enjoyable it can be looking at the trees, flowers and other interesting aspects of nature along the way. Watching the birds as they fly by can be so relaxing; it can wipe away the concerns of the day and you can be reminded of how calming and wonderful nature can be to your body and mind.
Still another way to be happy and more self-assured is to think “outside of your box.” By this I mean, read some books, newspapers or just watch what is going on in the news. By looking beyond what is going on in your life, you can open your thoughts to other parts of the world and what is going on in the lives of others. By observing what is going on in the world; you will appreciate the many good and positive things that are going on in your life.
Some may not know it but a smile can do wonders. Smiling not only makes you feel good but it also prevents stress and negative thoughts from coming into your mind. Smiling at others also makes them feel happy, peaceful and positive.
Another great way to find peace and feel more self-confident is to care about others. When you and I care about others; we not only feel good about who we are, we are helping others to have a better life and often we soon we forget about our problems. By caring about others; it pushes away selfish thoughts and causes us to be more loving and kind toward others.
Wonderful and fulfilling peace can be found with hope. Hope is a trait that can only gives you inner-peace but it can lower stress and anxiety in your life. In everyone’s life there are dark and stressful times but in most cases, there is an end to difficulties; especially if you hold on to hope. With hope, you know that even though you’re going through a dark and difficult time, you know that soon you will be feeling better and that more positive and happy times will soon be coming your way.
Hope can lift you from a dark and negative way of thinking; to a bright and more positive way of thinking and living. The old say, “It’s always darkest before the dawn,” is not only true but an effective and helpful way to get through the “storms” of life.
Believing and trusting in a “faith” of your choice can not only bring peace to your inner self; it can also make you a healthier person. Research has shown that those who practice and believe in a faith of their choosing; are healthier and often live longer lives.
Still another way to find inner peace and feel more comfortable about your life is to keep learning. Learning can be fun, satisfying and a wonderful way of finding out about the world you live in. In addition, by living in the present moment, you can prevent worry and anxiety from invading your present circumstances. Many of us worry about what has happened in the past or worry about something in the future that may never happen. When you live in the present moment, you can find peace that is complete because in the present there are no pressing problems or concerns.
It is important to note that there are several effective ways that will enhance your self-image such as getting to know yourself. By finding out what your strengths and weaknesses are; you can use them to your advantage. Find out what makes you unique and then enhance those positive qualities instead of focusing on your negative traits. By using your strengths, you will be able to achieve your goals and keep your weaknesses out of the way.
Most importantly, learn how to accept criticism. By not feeling insecure when someone criticizes you, you will be able to build your confidence. By accepting criticism in a constructive way; you will defeat anything negative that could harm your self-esteem. Criticism, if received in a positive way, can help you grow and develop. Overcoming your fears can also help you develop a higher self-esteem and a higher confidence level. Fears sometimes prevent us from reaching our goals and full potential in life. Fears should be faced and overcome; otherwise, they will hold you down and keep you from enjoying your life.
Of course, paying attention to your physical appearance is also important. This can be achieved by taking care of your personal grooming. Eating healthy and getting regular exercise will not only get you into shape but it will also make you feel good about your body. Wearing comfortable and appealing clothes, maintaining a good hairstyle, eating nutritious foods and being attentive to personal hygiene; you will feel good about who you are and be more likely to succeed.
In addition, keep in mind that positive and caring people are never negative or rude to others; however, insecure and frightened people often tend to be critical and judgmental toward others because they feel insecure. By being positive, you will bring out the best in others and when you do that, you will feel good about your own positive and caring behavior.
Some may not know it but to enjoy inner peace and have a higher self-esteem; it is important to speak your mind. There are times when you have to fight for what you believe in. When such times occur; stand up for who you are and what you believe in and state your case. This may be hard to do but the end result will make you feel good that you stated your opinions in an honest and respectful way.
To conclude, we all live in a world that is constantly changing and with change we often have to face challenging and fearful situations. However, by finding inner peace and developing our self-esteem and self-confidence; we can not only find true inner peace but also develop our self-confidence, reach our goals in life and be happy.
